Sourcing Unit Implementation Team (SUITs) Review

Monitor the use of trial material, such as ingredients that are new to the factory and to record any trial data of its performance, settings and machine adjustments required. To make a judgement/conclusion of whether the trial was successful.

I am treated as a member of the team. Responding to any urgent situations or projects within my scope as a SUIT are times when I am given a lot responsibility. Leading a project outlined by central management, and to source the right information from all the internal factory teams associated at Gloucester is where I believe I have a lot of autonomy, which is an important aspect of the role.

I have developed my communication and time management skills. A new skill I have developed is being able to see the larger picture of the ice cream process and think about all aspects from the beginning of product design to selling to markets. The responsibilities of the role has developed my ability to ensure that I have understood the details whilst being able to convey the knowledge concisely.

Continuous guidance and support is provided especially in 1:1 sessions with my line manager. Guidance from my team members, improves the conclusions obtained from testing new ingredients and packaging materials. Support from the engineering team to prevent downtime from trials is also great.

The company culture is to perform to the very best of yourself and to empower others to follow suit. The general atmosphere is very welcoming, everyone is eager to listen to your views, and everyone is willing to work towards a purpose.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement, the responsibility of the role is a rewarding aspect of seeing where your efforts are directed to and tangible results of newly approved production ingredients and products. The social life of Christmas dinners, training/team building days and banter in the office are all great aspects that make the placement more enjoyable and work a little easier.
