Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Throughout my time at SAP, I have handled the NDA process in the EMEA region (from redline to signature), alongside doing legal research on a range of topics, for the benefit of myself and the lawyers. I help to organise the payment of external legal counsel for the work they have done for us and arrange region wide meetings. I sit in on customer calls and watch the negotiations between lawyers take place.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
A lot of responsibility, we are entrusted with the NDA process and ensuring the payment of external counsel. You are given responsibility but the understanding that you can reach out to people should you have a question. It is a great level of responsibility and enables you to grow throughout your time here.

I have a better understanding of how negotiations work, thanks to witnessing them first hand. I have been able to work on managing expectations and being clear in my communication.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A lot of support and guidance. The regional team (as well as the UKI team) are great. They are always there to support you and care about your development and what you want out of your internship. The team are super friendly and approachable. I have been so lucky to have two 1-2-1s a week with the regional lawyer who is extremely knowledgeable in the field, which I have learnt so much from.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
SAP has great facilities, like a gym, studio to do exercise classes in, free lunch and various other benefits. It is a very flexible place to work, for example you can go to a pilates class in the day that they provide and no one is clock watching you! The people are very friendly and treat interns like any other business member.
