Global Assistant Brand Manager Review

Working on innovation projects delivering brand engagement and POS materials to local market teams, leading Project Team meetings, some more operational pieces requiring communicating with cross functional teams, working on building the Brand Book for my brand, and building workshops and concepts for upcoming projects.

I was given a lot of responsibility as I was in quite a small team meaning I got to lead projects and had a lot of trust in my opinions and recommendations, from initially leading project meetings to leading workshops and renovation projects, and delivering big pieces of creative materials to local teams to use as advertising material!

I’ve developed skills in terms of my organisational abilities and communication skills, developed my proficiency with PowerPoint and understanding of interpreting various data sources and have gained a lot of confidence.

I received a lot of support from my manager but slightly less guidance and support on certain aspects like learning to interpret data as there is a lot of encouragement to be independent in your learning and your projects

The company culture is very fast paced, and there is a lot of trust and responsibility sitting with placement students but the workload can be quite heavy during certain periods of the project. The atmosphere is very friendly and everyone is always very open to have a catchup or answer any questions- I’ve found everyone to be very approachable

I really enjoyed my placement, I feel like I’ve learnt a lot throughout the year and have met lots of great people! I’ve been given lots of responsibility and been able to lead my own projects and do more work on the pieces that I enjoy most. I would recommend this to anyone even if you’re unsure whether marketing is for you as you get to experience many cross functional teams and come into contact with people in many different roles
