Modelling of our P&L within HC, partnering with brand teams to ensure media spend is forecasted correctly and spent in line with budget. Review customer, brand, format performance to look for areas of potential opportunity and risk. Ensure our forecast is accurately reflected within the online tool by making monthly adjustments. Review cost of goods on a monthly basis to flag and investigate variances with the supply chain team. Ensure all excel models and templates are refreshed with the latest data from the online tool on a monthly basis.

Yes I believe I was given high levels of responsibility during my placement, ensuring budgets are accurately planned and spent was crucial especially during times of scrutiny from the leadership team. Also the responsibility of making sure all models were updated with the latest most accurate information. Ensuring the presentations worked on to present to the leadership team were accurate and insightful. As the adjustments and work I did flowed through to the online system used company wide ensuring the numbers I submitted were correct and really paying attention to levels of detail.

I have developed my presenting skills, having the opportunity to convey a message in a number of different forums has helped not only boost my confidence but also understand how to best decide which message needs to be delivered and also how this should be done dependent on the audience. I have developed my commercial finance skills, having the exposure on a day to day basis of the financial operations of a leading FMCG has really helped to boost my understanding of processes, skills and techniques necessary for the business and individuals to be successful.

I believe I was given lots of support, I had a whole month worth of hand over with the person I replaced to ensure I had a grasp of the role and the work I'd be doing. I have weekly meetings with my manager to review tasks and align on prioritise. There is also a head of specifically finance IP's who we have regular check ins with to ensure things are going as planned. All staff are friendly and more than happy to support and guide where appropriate.

I believe the company generally has a very good culture and atmosphere. The people I work with are friendly and I genuinely believe they want the best for me. People seem content and passionate about their jobs and really push each other to get the best out of themselves and their peers. The office has a nice feel, people are regularly up for having a chat about their weekend etc. I have found the culture and atmosphere excellent generally speaking.

I have absolutely loved my placement, it has given my an experience I could not have imagined just 12 months ago. It has helped me to understand what a job in finance might look like whilst also opening my eyes to other roles in such companies that might be of interest. I believe it has been fundamental in helping develop both my soft skills and also skills I will carry forward in my professional career in terms of technical finance knowledge and operation of tools. It is an experience I truly believe I will never forget.
