Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I support one of the Homecare accounts with daily account management tasks as well as leading our online agenda. I'm also responsible for the management of various sales trackers for all 5 business units for all account managers in my customer team. I interact with different departments daily and catch up with our buyers monthly where I present omni-channel data and initiatives I've been working on to support their business plans.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Definitely! The amount of trust and responsibility my team has given me has exceeded all expectations I had before joining Unilever. My manager and leadership team have been extremely supportive and are always happy to get me involved in new tasks involving both internal and external stakeholders.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learned how to efficiently use excel from tracking and analysing data to building spreadsheets from scratch and implementing new formulas into trackers to improve their efficiency and ensuring the most up to date data is available to all account managers in my team. I have also built on my presentation skills by taking on as many opportunities as possible from upskilling account managers to presenting data externally to buyers.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Unilever has a very casual atmosphere. The dress code is not too strict either. Everyone is quite friendly and welcoming regardless of seniority. A lot of employees tend to live in similar areas like Clapham or Wimbledon so you are almost always guaranteed to meet them outside of work too!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
Be yourself! As cliché as it may sound, being your authentic self goes a long way. The recruitment team wants to get to know you as a person and your potential instead of the experiences you've had before (still useful to have work experience!).
