Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I assist the legal team with any work that a non-qualified lawyer can do. This often involves managing work streams to ensure that everyone is on track, as well as carrying out administrative tasks like document production or record-keeping.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Due to the busy nature of in-house work I was given responsibility from very early on, managing my own projects from the second week. However, there was always someone I could ask for help and I never felt overwhelmed.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed a familiarity with the day-to-day work in an in-house legal team. The variety of work means that I am exposed to a range of practice areas and I have begun to feel confident in the work that underpins all of these areas (namely document production and workstream tracking). I have also developed familiarity with specific legal software, such as DocuSign.

The whole team were fantastically helpful, and were not only willing to take time out of their day to offer specific assistance, but also to provide general legal training and career advice.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is one of openness and communication, with great respect for work-life balance. There were a lot of new joiners around the time that I started, so it took a little while for the team culture to fully form, but events such as group lunches helped stimulate this.
