Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Day 1: Series of talks delivered on the firms values and structure, including the firm’s managing partner. Informative day where we also met our peers in the scheme. Followed by a networking dinner with two trainees and the recruitment team.
Day 2: insight into the departments offered at FF Manchester as well as the completion of a client case study task and presentation.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Insight into the business was comprehensive. Hearing from trainees was helpful. We received a number of talks on the application process and the potential roles available to apply for following this initial scheme. This too was informative. Their summer scheme too is an intriguing role as it takes 2ns year non-law.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Developed skills in public speaking as well as being an active listener for both days. Networked with legal professionals from trainees up to partner status. Spoke with graduate recruitment during skills and employability workshops.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
This was probably the best aspect. Culture seemed relaxed but not in a way which limited quality of the work done here. There was no presenteeism in the company. Each department dispelled some of the stereotypes that existed surrounding them which contributed to this development of my understanding of their culture.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I enjoyed this experience overall, particularly the networking dinner as I had a chance to talk to professionals in a causal setting. One aspect I enjoyed less was the presentation task. I enjoy public speaking. However I felt 30 mins to prepare a PowerPoint presentation and some form of script on the spot was extremely difficult. I understand that law firm work is challenging but I feel like the lack of time given limited the quality we could produce.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fieldfisher LLP
I’d recommend people get to know the firm somewhat before attending. It is an exciting new law firm with some interesting special departments. The staff are lovely. Just take it easy, no pressure and enjoy yourself. Listen. Make notes. Ask questions. And you’ll be fine.
