Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The insight involved an individual hackathon on Hackerrank. this was around an hour and a half long, we had to answer 6 questions of varying difficulty. Before that we had some Amazon employees give introductions into their day to day work at Amazon, and the general agenda for the insight day. After the hackerrank, we had a few software engineers who also gave more insights about their jobs and how they felt at the start.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to learn about the roles at Amazon because I am going into third year and having a better understanding of the type of roles involved will allow me to make an informed decision on what i’d like to intern as in 3rd year.

I think the hackathon was a great way to improve my problem solving skills in a time limited environment. I learnt how to prioritise my time and to not spend too long on one question over the other.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Amazon is a very customer centric company, I learnt that Amazon only delivers tools if they feel it’ll actually add value to the customer and not just because they believe it’s necessary, there’s a great sense of product-solution fit.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I thoroughly enjoyed the event, it was a great way to understand the limitations of my own coding skills in a timed environment and enabled me to gain insights into the life of a worker at Amazon
