Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

During the Amazon Spring Insight Event, we heard from a panel of software engineers working at Amazon, learning their journeys into their roles, as well as hearing advice from them, like which leadership principles they aligned with the most. There was also a hackathon with 6 coding questions to answer in 1 hr 45 mins. We also gained information into Amazon's internship application process.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

It was interesting to hear about how different people entered their roles through different pathways. I definitely understand more now about what key things Amazon is looking for in people as a company.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I developed my problem solving skills and ability to manage my time. Since the hackathon was a limited time frame, it forced me to work efficiently under pressure. I managed to make use of programming structures I have already learnt about, and apply them into solving the problems.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone seemed so lovely and spoke very highly of their role and career and working for Amazon. It came across that it would be a very good place to work at.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

I enjoyed it very much and it has motivated me to get on top of things and start really focusing on my future career. The hackathon was so enjoyable and confirmed to me that I really love to program and that it is what I want to do with my life!
