Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Assisting programme managers on their projects, shadowing a PM to learn the specifics of the PM role. The role includes assisting in managing schedules to keep the programme on track, organising meetings with the engineering team leads to discuss the project, and resource, assisting in key milestone meetings. Learning whatever new things you can! Even outside the scope of PM to advance my learning on the internship.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, I have been given responsibility in being Programme management Support on a couple of projects, and assisted as a PM.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, I have developed in many skills on this internship. Through both online training and in person hands on training, and learning on the job. In particular for me, I have gained a lot more confidence and am able to present in front of the team. I have also learnt key skills such as how to manage schedules and resource loading, and generally how to be a good Programme Manager.

I have had weekly reviews with my manager, and they have a door open policy so I feel like I can go to them if I have any issues. I feel very supported.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It is a great culture, everyone in this office is very supportive and kind, and everyone is willing to lend a hand when needed. I feel like I can go to the team, and the wider office, for support if I need it.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I have loved my time here, and I genuinely feel like I have learnt something new every day. I have learnt so much. I have been given the opportunity to learn, grow, and take on responsibility. I feel very included in the team, It has been a lovely experience, and lots of hard work!
