Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I am responsible for scoping and executing projects to improve the productivity, safety or sustainability of the Boeing Sheffield Factory. My work focuses mainly on digitalization and automation of various factory processes. Day to day tasks involve investigative data analytics, liaising with stakeholders and working with factory IT to establish hardware connections etc.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given progressively more responsibility throughout the course of my placement. I'm now entirely responsible for a number of projects.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

During the course of my placement I have learnt how to program in Python and create and manipulate SQL databases. I have also become proficient with countless proprietary Boeing software packages.
I've developed my interpersonal skills such as presenting and conflict management. Additionally, I now have a comprehensive project management skill set.

Initially I was shadowing members of my team so had constant support and guidance. Although I now work more independently, I always have support at my disposal from any number of my teammates.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I've made a great network and have had some incredible opportunities. Its has been challenging and I've learnt a lot.
