Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Skill training (Networking skills, technical training), networking with other interns as well as with workers in the bank, learning about the different division within the bank. We received training from external providers about accounting and valuation techniques. On the last day of the insight we had the assessment centre with the option to convert to the summer internship.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was rewarding to learn about the roles and learning within the bank was the best place to learn about the roles. The speakers who came to talk to us about the potential roles available had years of experience within their roles and were more than happy to share their experience and expertise with us spring interns.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
We had skill workshops where we learned about our strengths and how to ensure we use our strengths more in our work, as well as skill workshops on our improving our ability to network and the benefits of it. Learnt more about the global banking industry and about valuation techniques.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very welcoming, the workers of the bank were more than happy to help us and speak to us about their careers. Within the bank we were treated well, with lunch and snacks catered for as well as travel to and from the bank covered.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed this insight week as it was great to be able to network within this setting and meet other people with similar career goals to me. I found the length of the days and complexity of the training manageable yet challenging enough that I still learnt a lot.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BNP Paribas
It is really important to complete the pre-reading given prior to the programme so that you are able to gain as much from it as possible. It is also recommendable to try to network as much possible within the bank as some of the connections you make will come in handy later on in your career.
