Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Had the opportunity to find out more about both BNP Paribas and Global Markets by attending talks, panels and having the opportunity to speak to people in various roles. Had a training day where we took part in both classroom style learning sessions as well as interactive group simulations of trading and assets. Spoke to many other people on the program and was able to share advice and experience as well as forming meaningful connections.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was very energising having the opportunity to hear about all the different roles. The pre reading for the technical training was very useful for this as it meant that I was able to understand the language used when people were describing their jobs. I had the opportunity to learn about teams I hadn’t yet heard much about such as restructuring.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Heavily developed my networking skills as we had a lot of practice of that and had a workshop on the topic. I developed my confidence by asking questions in a group setting. I had the opportunity to develop my technical skills both through the pre reading resources and through the training day. I gained large amounts of knowledge about the markets sector and what jobs within that area of the bank entail.

How would you rate business leader involvement during the insight

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very welcoming and helpful culture. All people at the company were open to discussing their role and giving advice. The atmosphere among the interns was very friendly and collaborative which I really appreciated. I particularly enjoyed hearing about the CSR and all the important charitable and ESG initiatives BNP Paribas is involved in.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
Very much enjoyed the insight programme. I feel like I learned so much and have been able to develop both my technical and people skills. Have learnt so much about the financial industries and have made connections with many of the other interns that I really appreciate.
