Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the virtual experience and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The virtual experience provides participants with an overview of all of the surveying careers available at Fisher German. Each day, participants took part in various virtual sector talks and careers advice sessions. As well as this, participants had to complete both group and individual work tasks alongside the internship sessions.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was great to hear from lots of Fisher German employees about the various roles available in surveying. I also found that the buddy programme available during the internship was useful to learn more about a career in surveying from a recent graduate employed at Fisher German. Furthermore, I was provided with many resources and support during the internship.

I have developed my knowledge of surveying and the skills I need to succeed in a career in this sector. As well as this, I have improved my networking and time management in addition to skills such as how to formulate a cover letter and CV.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was very welcoming! I could tell that many of the individuals hosting the sessions were passionate about their work and eager to offer advice, which I found inspiring. Although the experience was virtual, I feel like I had many opportunities to network with Fisher German employees and other participants.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
I really enjoyed my virtual experience. Considering it was not in person, I still gained a lot of insight and information from each of the sessions, although at times I did have to dedicate a lot of time outside of the internship to complete the group and individual tasks. However, this provided me with an insight into a full working day and I found the internship overall very rewarding.

This internship is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in surveying, so make the most of the great advice and insights from the Fisher German team! I would recommend setting out time on each day of the programme to complete group and individual tasks. In your application, I think it would be useful for you to demonstrate why you are interested in surveying.
