Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role on a day to day involves sitting in on calls that are set out to determine what is needed for the customer project and how best we can demonstrate what SAP does to help facilitate a deal. This then most of the time results in a video creation on my part to show what SAP does in an exciting and creative way.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my placement and I really appreciated the fact that I was fully trusted to do my role with room for creative freedom. Being in this role specifically has allowed me the pleasure of working with people all throughout the organisation on multiple different customer projects making my placement very meaningful and productive.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
My existing skills have improved tremendously such as my time management, organisation skills and soft skills. This role has also helped in the way I perceive things. I have learned that there is never just one way to do something and it has allowed me to be open to new possibilities and ways of working. I have also been trained on how to use the Adobe creative cloud softwares which has been useful to have.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
SAP offers a lot of support from start to finish. My line manager is always on hand if I should need any help or guidance and from the first day I was allocated a buddy. The steerco team are also available and offer a lot of support if there are any concerns anyone is having. Lastly, the general attitude from the organisation as a whole is that everyone is happy to help no matter what.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Culturally I think SAP make a great effort in order to make sure everyone is accounted for, represented and heard within the organisation. They hold a lot of events that tailor towards different diverse topics and give everyone the platform to be heard and teach others what they may not necessarily know about different cultures and demographics for example.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have really enjoyed my placement and I could not have asked for a better opportunity. Being that this placement even went ahead where others may have unfortunately had theirs cancelled due to the pandemic is a testament to how much SAP do truly care about their placement programme and it is very evident in the way I was treated as not just an intern but as a full-time employee.

What advice would you give to others applying to SAP
Go for it! the whole process was a great experience in itself and the assessment day was so much fun and I left really wanting to join the organisation which is something that was a great indicator that this is a good company to work for.
