Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
research assistant: carrying out the experiment individually and cooperatively for data collection and creating the questionnaires used in said experiments. Carrying out basic data analysis for fMRI data. A day followed like this:
Interacting with participants
Setting up the EEG and EMG
Recording EGG and EMG data
Thresholding of pain
Administering pain (electrical stimuli)
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given as much responsibility as I asked for, I chose to have as much as possible so I was given an experiment to carry out individually. I chose to do as much as I could for the data collection (EMG set-up...) and even now I can choose to help with data analysis and writing out the paper

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend University of Reading to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to University of Reading
Network within the facility, everyone here actually wants to help you and they are more than happy to as a lot of them are looking to recruit for Phds. Ask lectures or staff about their area of research and try to find ways to get experience within the uni. CINN lab is amazing for that and they're always looking for people.
