Vacation schemer Review

I was assigned a seat in a legal team, where I sat with my supervisor and trainee buddy. I was in commercial real estate and was given general trainee tasks and was guided through the steps. We were also allocated many presentations through the week from different legal teams who provided us with an insight into the work they do.

The scheme was very educational and thorough as to understanding who Mishcon is and the role they wish to play in society. The one week was very thorough and the team had put a lot of effort into the presentations. I felt comfortable enough to ask questions and was given plenty of opportunities to network with lawyers across the firm. Through this I was able to understand Mishcons offering much better, which helped greatly in the final assessment.

I developed my networking through interacting with a number of members of the firm daily. I was also able to have a go at general trainee tasks specific to my legal team.

Everyone was supportive, encouraging and passionate about their roles. I found that I was able to network with a range of individuals in a non-hierarchical environment. In particular, partners were always happy to share an insight into their work and were really passionate about what they do. I do think you have to really “put yourself out there” in terms of confidence with networking, but it will always be well received.

I was surprised at how well I enjoyed the vacaction scheme. My entire cohort were so friendly and the early careers team were really welcoming, together this made the experience very enjoyable. I do think the scheme is intense as a lot is packed into your one week, but I found myself genuinely enjoying people’s company whilst learning.
