Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked on a range of projects that all had differing requirements so my day-to-day work always varied. I did lots of things from flood or utility risk assessments and report writing to CAD design work and information management.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I made meaningful contributions to all the projects I was a part of. I was even given the rare opportunity to manage graduates that were less experienced with my projects

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed so many skills from working on many different projects, and always felt supported when I was unsure or new to something. My CAD and knowledge of other softwares had definitely improved, as have my softer skills such as technical writing and workload management

Go for it! I’ve enjoyed all the placements I’ve done with Atkins, it’s a great place to work. Be genuine and let your enthusiasm and interests shine through, try and be a person you yourself would want to work with.
