Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involved working on projects to improve or replace existing systems within the company, such as booking systems, dashboard webpages, backends. I was given a list of criteria that should be met and a basic plan and worked on this plan, then built the software, testing it and adding features, while adhering to a methodology. Day to day was spend programming working on this & progress meetings.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was managing my own project, although was able to access guidance as I required it. This let me develop my skills independantly.

I learnt many new skills, from a large range of programming technologies, proper methods for working in a team, such as managing job boards and meetings, with progress reports, as well as large aspects of safety training etc.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship as I was able to develop many new skills and get a feel for what my adult life would be like in the future.

What advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel
I would ensure you have reserached the company and have maybe a project or two to show off to set yourself apart from the rest. If you are going into software, C# is generally the main language, work on that!
