Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Assisting the valuation team on different projects. This includes helping with research, excel spreadsheets, site visits, finding comparable properties and writing reports.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was responsible for photos and maps during site visits and I have been responsible for the due diligence of multiple reports which i have been doing independently.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have developed my IT skills by using Excel but I have also become familiar with new websites and databases independent to Savills. I have further deepend my university knowledge on Valuation which will help me in my third year. Additionally, my communication and networking skills have improved due to speaking to lots of new people.

I have received lots of help from all members of the Valuation team as well as advice from other team members regarding my career. Help has been readily available when required for day to day tasks.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I have enjoyed the office environment and the atmosphere within my team. We have also socialised outside the office which gave me the opportunity to get to know my team members. Not only this but I have also had the chance to speak to people from other teams.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my 4 week internship in the Leeds office, however its gone too quick!!! The internship has allowed me to realise i would like to work in Leeds city Centre after graduating.

What advice would you give to others applying to Savills
I would advise others to get involved in social events in order to network with different members of the office. Additionally, I would recommend speaking to different teams to get an idea of their line of work. It was also very helpful to get out on site inspections to provide context for the work you are assisting on and to see it in practice.
