Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The business management summer interns each worked in a different team across the wider Centrica business. I was in a British Gas team, Partner Customer Delivery. For this role, we set ourselves some objectives at the start of the placement and had to complete project(s) over the 9 week period. This involved working with my team, PCD, working on projects daily, and travelling to different areas of the country as part of the placement.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I was responsible for the oversight and completion of my project, and was expected to join weekly meetings and attend wider team events as part of my internship.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have learnt how to make a Power BI report despite having no prior Power BI experience. We also had an Excel workshop for all interns to develop our Excel skills. I have massively developed my communication and networking skills too.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received an extensive amount of support, not only from the Early Careers team (who has been absolutely brilliant), but also from the Business Management GTMs and from the team that I was in (PCD). I was positively overwhelmed by how much everyone was willing to support me, for example my team helped me a lot with my project which helped me develop many skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Centrica places a big emphasis on sustainability and their values, which hugely support employee wellbeing. Working here, I have felt very comfortable and never out of place.

I thoroughly enjoyed this placement. The level of investment Centrica placed in my personal development was amazing, as well as the extensive opportunity to connect with other interns and grads made the placement very worthwhile.
