Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I was involved in the deployment of a new software, with the aim of improving efficiency of engineers and preventing price discrepancies. I have been responsible for collating the handover document until BAU handover and collating a checklist document from other teams to ensure everyone knows who is responsible and when action points need completing by.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, I feel like I had a good level of support from my manager but he let me take risks and work on my own project, enabling me to take every opportunity and learn from my mistakes. I have single-handedly created a document that will continue to be governed until deployment handover.

Developed my excel skills e.g. conditional formatting and attended workshops on LinkedIn and presenting which has improved my influencing and networking skills. My confidence in presenting has grown with all the opportunities I've had and I've got a much better commercial understanding

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
We had an exceptional level of support. Each intern was given a line manager, paired with a grad scheme buddy and a two talent managers for the streams we were in. Everyone you spoke to within the business was friendly, welcoming and always happy to help answer any questions.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
UNREAL. The community is so supportive and I've felt very at home since I arrived. Lots of extra-curricular and social activities to get involved in such as football and rounders games and it is easy to reach out to not only interns but other colleagues.

I have loved my internship and found it so beneficial. Would recommend it to everyone! So many oppurtunities and really hope to be back on the graduate scheme.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
Even if you aren't in the stream your applying don't let that put you off!! I am in a biomedical background with very little commercial experience but this has given me such an insight into the business.
