Data Science Summer Intern Review

My main work was to develop a machine learning approach to predict customer behaviour using Python and Scikit-Learn. Most of my time was spent visualising and analysing input and output data and tuning my model. Apart from that I took part in organising and participating in volunteering activities.

Yes. I was fully responsible for the approach I developed and the volunteering I participated in. I was given a budget to help organise the volunteering and my team and I needed to get in touch with charities without any supervision from Centrica's full-time staff. I had to present the products of my work to Centrica's talent managers at the end of the placement.

I learned a lot of technical skills as this was the first time I developed a ML model from start to finish. These skills were to do with Python libraries and data analysis. Moreover, I improved my presentation skills and gained experience in working in a professional environment.

My line manager was always very helpful in answering my technical questions and regularly asked me for feedback on my experience and personal development. The talent managers also offered a lot of support by always being approachable and available and hosting regular events in order to help develop skills through workshops and by asking us for feedback. Overall, I am very happy with the amount of support and guidance I received.

Very positive. It was never too stressful and everyone was very supportive and open.

To full extent. I was not expecting to have this much fun. I will miss the company even though I have only worked here for nine weeks.
