Internal Audit Summer Intern Review

I was part of the Internal Audit team throughout my placement. My role involved completing call listening and data reconciliation tasks to assist audit fieldwork of control testing and writing up issues.

I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my internship in my opinion. I was given necessary tasks to complete in order to help with audit findings which were then included in the final draft report and then approved. For example, I did a call listening piece which identified a key issue and I added my own observations which were then added in the final report in the observations page.

I have learnt new excel skills and have developed my public speaking and ppt. skills through workshops and plenty of opportunities to present. I have also learnt effective business communications through constant practice and guidance. Furthermore, I have gained a greater commercial awareness through spotlight sessions and a deeper insight into the company through my role in audit.

I received overwhelming support from my line manager, they even adjusted their own work schedule to attend the office on the days when I could make it in. I was assisted by my wider team who would put time in my diary for catch-ups and give me an opportunity to ask any questions that I have. I was also assigned a graduate buddy who called me on a weekly basis.

I enjoyed the company culture, everyone was very passionate about their work and what they do. Furthermore, it was common place for other interns' line managers to reach out for chats.

I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my experience and would recommend that people do apply.
