Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involved providing communications to internal colleagues and negotiating
with external suppliers for events. Alongside this posting Centrica's news story's for colleagues and promoting competitions through visual communication marketing techniques

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility. I started off by leading my own project 2 weeks in and my managers gave me a lot of flexibility to work in important projects. There was a lot of responsibility and the tasks I worked on were difficult and it was good to know I was making a difference.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of support and guidance. I was lucky enough to have two managers and everyday I would have a call with one of them to go through my daily tasks. If they had any work which they were doing they allowed me to shadow and if I was ever stuck they made sure they helped me get around the problem.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture was super friendly, everyone was supportive and we all got on. I didn't expect 60 people to all be friends but I think there isn't a single person I did not speak to and talk with. The full time employees as well are fun and although corporate make you feel welcome and involved.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed my placement thoroughly. I easily could have not worked this summer and not done an internship but doing it I feel better than I have before and feel accomplished. The internship was a great experience.

What advice would you give to others applying to Centrica
To really get involved over the 9 weeks. If you get involved and dive into your work the span goes so far. There's so much to do at Centrica and its great for future development. Alongside this, others should make sure to always be working the more you work the better you will feel as the accomplishment is amazing and upskilling,
