Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My role involves assisting our team with a variety of tasks, I have learnt to use PowerApps, Excel, PowerBI, Camtasia, Vyond, SharePoint and other tools I had no knowledge in before. I have led on communications for benefits, presented to Nordic HR Heads about the way they post their benefits, coordinated company awards in the UK, organised trips abroad (which I have had the chance to attend) and much more!
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given so much responsibility, I was empowered to lead on projects and my opinion as an intern is always listened to! It is never overwhelming though so the team is always available for questions and will support you if a mistake is made. I am in charge of my own time which is great for flexibility!

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I had little experience in excel and am now very confident with it and have also developed in lots of technical applications I hadn't even heard of. My presentation, people and networking skills have improved. I have exercised my problem solving and have solid examples of scenarios where I have used all of these for future interviews.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I had monthly 1:1s with my manager where I could ask to grow in certain areas and she would help me by putting me on different tasks. I also had bi-weekly workload meetings to ensure I wasn't overwhelmed with tasks. Everyone was there to help me learn and did it with a smile on their faces!

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture is excellent, the hierarchy is very flat so you get opportunities to work with the head of HR/CEO and they treat you like an equal. Everybody values interns and they love to help you grow!

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed it so much. We had lots of opportunities to work with other interns, we get all the company benefits (including travel to other countries). The whole company is lovely and with the responsibility I received I feel set up for my future career!

What advice would you give to others applying to Siemens
Don't feel intimidated by all the stuff that Siemens creates and does, you aren't expected to know it all! It is a great company where they are interested in you and are willing to develop you, it is a company where you can show your personality rather than feeling very strict, it is a great company to begin your career at!
