Architectural Technician Review

Ensure I'm caught up on emails before the day begins,
Begin/continue with work on the project that I have been resourced to assist with. Resourcing for the week is discussed in the week prior and further confirmed through internal meetings at the start of the week.
Work I was given typically consisted of REVIT work ranging from creating detail GAs or making alterations to fine level junction details. Additionally, these jobs could be on AutoCAD depending on it's requirements and who else is involved.
If a client meeting is scheduled in my calendar (typically every 2 weeks) I will sit in on the meeting making rough notes and contributing where appropriate.

The biggest responsibility I was given was independently working on generating a tender drawing pack to be sent to clients to get there approval.
Other responsibilities that were given to me were printer(s) maintenance (ensuring there was enough paper, ink levels were sufficient, ensuring stock was full), and company car maintenance (undertaking weekly checks, damage reports, cleanings, booking MOTs).
Scanning and filing personal and internal documents and circulating to the appropriate departments and ensure information is well communicated

Gained knowledge in undertaking surveys.
Developed ability in AutoCAD and further enhanced my skills in REVIT.
Taking part in CPD s helping gain greater knowledge in industry current events, contemporary innovations and changes in the way we work day to day and in the long run.
Gained a greater understanding in multidisciplinary working.
Participate in internal and external meetings. These could range from client and disciplinary discussion with involvement in specific projects to internal work resourcing.

I had meeting with my placement supervisors to discuss how my placement is going any changes I what to make to my duties, go over my overall goals for placement (goals previously set and reflecting on goals previously set).
The office has an open door policy with discussion about work at any time I could discuss what work I want to move on to or if I need support etc. they I happy to help where they can.

Very happy and open, it was very easy to openly discuss with people about occurrences in and outside of the office. Work socials helped people relax and socialize at times when you would be unlikely to cross paths. As expected in times of deadlines the atmosphere is a little more quiet and focused but there is always an opportunity to break away and talk about your weekend plans or what you've got planned that night.

I enjoyed my placement very well, I worked on a variety of projects that help expand my skills and abilities. Additionally, the company socials allowed for me to network with members of the company that I wouldn't usually talk to. Also, the company's affiliation with the local business association allowed for volunteering opportunities to opened to me the most notable was being an elf for a local children's Christmas party and for a grotto at the local village Christmas Fair.
