Accounting and Finance Summer Intern Review

I am a part of the debtors, cash collection and reconciliation team. There we are in charge of chasing debt, writing management information packs on debtors and accrued income, posting cash books, intercompany billing and accruals and CASS checks.

In a relativity small new team, I was given a surprising amount of responsibility. As a team that has lots of month end reporting's to complete with strict deadlines having important work delegated to me was crucial to myself and the team. If I had completed it poorly or not on time it would have effected the entire team.

I have developed my excel skills significantly. As an Accounting and Finance university I have a basic understanding on excel but being at L&G helped develop these skills for my department. A new skill I learnt was reconciliation, this involved comparing two sets of data to verify the authenticity of said data.

My line manager has been incredibly supportive of any questions and queries that I have had regarding the internship or any work that I was completing. If she was too busy to answer the questions there would always been someone else available to help with anything I might need.

Everybody always spoke about the company culture being fantastic and I was always a bit sceptical hearing them talk about something intangible so positively but having spent my time in L&G I can say that the company culture and general atmosphere is amazing. Everyone is super friendly and supportive. Having been in other places before you can see the difference between the places.

Having not completed my internship completely I cannot give complete score of how much I enjoyed my internship. I can however, rate my current experience and I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It has been incredibly engaging and full of new interesting opportunities
