Savills Summer Scheme Review

Every day brought a new array of tasks and responsibilities in my role. Some days involved conducting site visits to various retail parks, shopping centres, and offices. On other days, my focus was on analysing lease's and creating summaries, identifying specific covenants that were relevant to clients' concerns, and creating schedules. The dynamic nature of being rotated within the team provided me with valuable insights into the different roles of property management. It allowed me to observe both the similarities and the unique aspects that each client's property presented.

The experience provided me with a much greater understanding of the diverse range of roles available within the company, which universities often don't fully expose you to while studying for your degree. It was genuinely fascinating to apply all the knowledge and skills that my degree had provided me with so far and witness how they it applies in a real-world working environment.

I developed my confidence throughout the 4 weeks, largely attributed to the supportive and inclusive nature of my team. One of the key skills I gained during this time was effective time management, as I had to juggle multiple tasks at once and prioritizing them appropriately. Furthermore, I gained a true understanding of the significance of teamwork and how it can bring about substantial benefits.

The culture of savills is one of inclusivity and friendliness. I was always invited along to meetings, social events and site visits which helped me to feel comfortable being in a new environment. There is an expectation to work hard but in an environment that is fun to be in.

I really enjoyed the insight month and would highly recommend it to anyone considering going into property.
