Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
As an intern in the Ratings team, I undertook numerous tasks that contributed towards projects aimed to consult, advice and assist clients with reducing their business rates. Inspections are a key part of this role, and I shadowed my colleagues to many sites around London; this includes the top floor at the 'Cheese Grater'. I was certainly involved within the team and doing my part wherever possible.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
By the end of the first day, I felt included and settled within the team. I felt trusted to conduct tasks to the best of my ability and was never left without something to do.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Skills I have developed as a result of being a Ratings intern include, and not limited to:
- Communication efficiency- ensuring I am informing my colleagues of what stage I am on in my task and informing them on meetings I am scheduled to attend (even as a reminder despite it being on my calendar).
- Intuitiveness- actively asking my colleagues if I can help
- Confidence- I am more confident having gained the experience I have had.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received plenty of guidance throughout my placement from my team and the wider Savills community. They integrated me into the working world and helped me every step of the way. I now am more confident and informed with Ratings as a whole. Additionally, I was not 'spoon-fed' and encouraged to implement the knowledge I obtained into the tasks I was given. Personally, I felt it was the best method to check my knowledge.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture felt welcoming and encouraging. You can see that everyone is passionate about their role and property as a whole. I was particularly fortunate to have such an incredible team who depicted exactly this, and what Savills culture stands for.

What advice would you give to others applying to Savills
I would advise those who are applying to Savills to not be hesitant and to give it a go, despite how competitive it may be. As a first year student, getting onto this scheme I felt as though I may not be accepted and saw my inexperience as a disadvantage. However, Savills will support you every step of the way, whether that is in your team or with HR. It was excellent experience. Do it!
