Doing use behavior related projects, analyzing the data collected from these use behavior projects and either presenting the data in a way everyone can understand and make decisions based on the evidence in these projects.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given sole responsibility on some very high budget projects, being guided along the way. While also getting the responsibility of being a subject matter expert on certain devices that we use

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

My background is in Computer Science, I've had the chance to do very minimal programming but I've had the chance to do a lot of new things outside of my degree like running scientific projects and working in the lab which expanded my set of skills. My presentation skills were always mediocre and this year I had the opportunity to receive critical feedback which helped refine and improve my skills as a presenter.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

The moment I arrived I've had the full support of my team, and the placement team in every project and every task and beyond. Everyone is willing to take every step with you from the very basics to the extremely difficult, trying by all means to explain everything tailored to your understanding. They welcome questions with enthusiasm and because of this, you feel no fear at all to ask any questions. My mentor was also perfectly chosen giving feedback and guiding me through the year, while also giving some outstanding career advice.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

There is a very open and friendly nature in the company, the general atmosphere is upbeat and vibrant, you get a sense and feeling that everyone enjoys what they do, and people are very welcoming to new employees.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

One of the best 1-year experiences of my life, the people made it very worthwhile, the fact that I was given some very important projects and given thorough details on the importance and the end goal of the project also gave meaning to what I was doing throughout the year. My team were absolutely lovely, my line manager was simply, outstanding, the placement team were brilliant as well, always on hand and prepared some fantastic activities for us throughout the year to keep us engaged. Overall, this year has been purely unforgettable!!
