Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I work within the applied science team, I manage projects which includes writing the study plans, conducting the study, then analysing the data and finally writing a report.
In addition to this I have to present my data in team meetings and as well as to the placement team.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes I was in charge of my own project, I had support from my line manager, however it was up to me how much support I wanted.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have developed vast number of skills from presentation skills to analytical ones in the lab. Before I started placement I quite shy and not very confident. However, after 11 months on placement I presented to a panel of senior leaders including a member of the management board.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

It was up to me how much support I wanted. The support was there if I wanted it, not only from my line manager but from the placement team and my wider applied science team. In addition, I had a mentor and buddy, who supported me with my career development.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very friendly and supportive. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of support that my team offered, no matter what I needed help with, someone was always willing to help.
