Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Helping with CAPEX projects, liaising with both the engineers in the office and the contractors. Helping with isolations and with the summer shutdown of the plant for maintenance purposes. Currently assisting with a project regarding the water treatment plant and the reverse osmosis unit.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was the area engineer for the nitrogen storage plant during the summer shutdown where I had to keep the pressure within the boundaries. I also worked along side an experienced engineer on a large project.

Developed my P&ID skills, my communication skills. It has also helped me to become more confident in my ideas and chemical engineering knowledge.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
All of the process engineering team were helpful and supported me throughout the year. They answered any questions that I had and allowed me to work with them on projects. During the first few weeks they took me onto plant with them and explained in depth what they were doing and how it related to their projects.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Everyone in the company was extremely welcoming to the three students, they were all open to having a conversation and finding out about what uni we had come from and what we had studied.

What advice would you give to others applying to Cargill
Be yourself at the assessment centre, there is a lot going on that day and it can be daunting with all of the assessors but during the group task try to focus on your group and getting the task done and not on them watching you.
