As the Job description states. Engineering drawings are updated on a daily basis, sometimes the changes are as simple as adding a decimal point and sometimes its redrawing a non-digital drawing. At times you will need to create a drawing as well.

No. Updating drawings as fast as possible is not considered responsibility and that was essentially the job. I was left for weeks and sometimes over a month without doing anything, which is why I developed the skills I mentioned previously.

The first few months is where I learned the most. Training on Catia V5 as well as the PLM system I would say was the most beneficial. We did have lecture based trainings which were about how the products work and legal things like documents.
I did develop modelling (part design, sheet metal, surfacing), Ansys mechanical package, 3D printing slicer software. These were all self taught and we did not receive training on any of it.

Support and guidance was great. You could ask anyone and they are more than happy to help or point you to the right person if they can't.

I mean its a regular desk job, how much culture could there really be? We had a summer event which was fun, there was a lot of interesting things.
The atmosphere was pretty chill, you end up finding a group of people to hang out with eventually.

A placement is to teach you about the industry and to show you how to work in a professional manner. It did exactly that. Did I enjoy my placement? Not really, but that's probably because I know feel like engineering is not the industry I want to be in.
