Technology Intern Review

My role involved working as part of an Agile Scrum team responsible for developing and maintaining e-commerce products. On a daily basis, this mainly involves writing code for features using various front-end and back-end technologies whilst ensuring adherence to quality standards through writing tests using various testing tools and techniques before releasing them to customers. Additionally, I am actively included skill development through activities such as pair programming sessions and SAP training courses.

Yes, being part of an agile team, I was involved in ensuring that the features/components developed were secure, well-tested, and performant according to defined standards. Another responsibility was ensuring that the feature code base was up to date with the main product code using the git technology. I was also responsible for hiring new interns. This included carrying out telephone screening and assisting manager during interviews.

I have learnt how to effectively use front-end and back-end development and testing by using technologies presented throughout the internship. I improved my programming as well as problem-solving skills through learning best practices and design patterns which are relevant to my career in technology. My communication skills have also improved through presenting features developed and actively communicating with team members.

I actively received support from the placement team, developers, and managers through sessions such as catch-ups, workshops, and more. They were highly responsive to all my inquiries and made provision for my needs. I was also enrolled in various training and development sessions which enabled me to undertake my daily tasks effectively.

The atmosphere was very friendly and the environment was always welcoming and collaborative. Moreover, the company puts a great deal of effort to develop its employees which I believe is ideal for growth and development making it appropriate for students. Additionally, I also enjoyed the flexible style to work which meant that I was able to work from home or at the office making it an enjoyable place to work.

My placement at SAP is truly life-changing. I have gained lots of exposure and improved as well as gained new skills. I have enjoyed every aspect of it.
