Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Sitting in tax I got to see one of the fastest growing teams in the city. The open office and culture at FieldFisher meant that we constantly interacted with Partners, The culture is full of vibrant and diverse, yet astute individuals who all have fascinating extra-curriculars that brings business and opportunity to the firm.
Being visually impaired I had a seamless experience, not feeling a burden but a potential talent. I will definitely be looking to apply for my training contract here.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The experience is part of a wider application for a training contract application and so really sets you on track for understanding the expectations to be a trainee solicitor. Diversity Access Scheme members also get first demonstration to the Partners before the applications go out to general applications.
The HR team want you to succeed in the process and the expose you to key skills they want you to demonstrate and would be expected to have as a trainee.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
My legal knowledge has drastically improved- especially as a none law student. A wider understanding of litigation, transaction and advisory has skyrocketed- whilst here meeting with a variety of senior colleagues from AI lawyers to banking lawyers embracing new financing techniques.
Commerciality is a vital skill developed through this process- working directly with clients and understanding their needs are more than black-letter law. The ethos of the firm allows for diverse emerging clients that you get a lot of exposure to.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The culture is the biggest seller to the firm (as well as the interest work you get to do) - the focus on people developing themselves and a wholistic engagement with clients mean that a career here is allows you stretch and flex yourself into finding what you truly enjoy. The ethos that lawyering is done best when people are astute and have a true passion for their field shines through here and other passions are able to form to with a great work-life balance.

Be yourself, be dynamic and ensuring that your focus is balance between how you will make money for the firm but also how your character will add to the firms USP- expand about your non-law extra-curricular and personal journeys. The best advice I was given by a partner here was:
- Take responsibility for everything you do and stop blaming things on others
- Ask good questions
- Keep things brief and concise
