Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I worked within the Customer Technical Programs (CTP) team during my internship. My role involved the Leading Indicator Program (LIP) where I worked to implement, globally coordinate collection of, and evaluate the success of different LIPs.. This involves introducing new programs, identifying applicable data points across the fleet and cascading that information to 3 global MROs effectively. It also involves tracking of disassembly to visually inspect and document hardware condition in line with the program, including supporting engine investigations.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
From day 1 of my internship, I was given an outline of clear roles and responsibilities that I alone was accountable for, and driving the completion of these was up to me entirely. Support from the team was readily available during obstacles and everyone I worked with were both willing, and happy, to help.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
During my internship at GE Aerospace Wales, I developed in both hard/soft skills. The intern curriculum here at Wales emphasizes development in presentation, communication, timekeeping and confidence skills etc. and is supported by a committed mentorship and intern committee.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace
Make sure to research what we do at GE Aerospace, our business priorities and current/future state of our technology. Also ensure to research the role of the local site you're applying to as the sites in the UK vary in responsibilities massively (e.g GE Wales is an MRO for commercial engines whereas GE Cheltenam primarily deals with all things systems/avionics)
