Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Each day consisted of completing different tasks for various projects that were being undertaken in the planning department. These tasks were mainly provided by graduates within the department who help guide how to complete the work. Additionally, most days had zoom/teams calls with the other summer scheme students, who were located in other offices, where we would be given overviews for the different departments within the company, which was very insightful.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Savills were made it very easy to further my understanding about potential rolls in the business, such as holding zoom calls with graduates in the company, as well as holding online network events and department overviews for all summer scheme students. Additionally, everyone in the office was open to speak about their experience of getting into their role at Savills.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I have learnt many new skills since starting my placement. Starting at the basics such a how to correctly format an email and cover letter to how to use software such as Savills maps, and the Planning Portal. As well as these skills the placement has also helped me develop my teamwork skills.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Within the office, it was a pleasant atmosphere to be working in, with friendly and helpful collogues. Everyone made me feel welcome and were open to answering all of my questions about the work I was completing as well as the company.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills
My advice would be to attend all of the networking events / department overviews as they opened my eyes to other opportunities within the company that I was unaware of prior.
