Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Involved in a team that were responsible for requirements analysis, system architecting and verification and validation. Followed working processes based upon Agile principals where the specific Agile methodology practiced was Scrum. By following such working processes, workloads were tackled in an iterative and incremental approach. The role involved interacting with team members, subject matter experts and internal/ external stakeholders.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
As expected when initially joining, the workload responsibility was less. This allowed me to settle into the new working processes. Subsequently, once settled responsibility was suitably increased as I became more confident in the role and I managed to show competency in the tasks that I was involved with.

Throughout my placement I learnt lots of new skills. This ranged from learning new Agile working processes as well as more technical engineering skills such as those required to develop a system architecture.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
Throughout my placement, I always received support and guidance. This involved having regular catch ups with my line manager to ensure that I was managing with the workloads provided and more importantly gaining the most out of the placement.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at BAE Systems! I learnt lots of new skills and gained a better understanding of working within a professional engineering environment. Also, I was exposed to extremely interesting and unique engineering projects, making everyday a compelling experience.
