Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Dentons Spring Vacation Scheme entails two weeks of rotations in two different departments at the firm's offices. This will encompass a range of experiences for those partaking in the scheme from completing miscellaneous trainee tasks to drafting legal agreements in the first instance. It was also a fantastic opportunity to speak to experience legal professionals and understand the culture that Dentons focuses so strongly on.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Brilliant, the change of seats allows for the individual to gain an insight in to what a solicitor does in their respective field and also the demands of the job. It was provided a great opportunity to see the scope of Dentons clients and the matters the firm deals with.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The key developments I felt occurred during the scheme were mainly aimed at professionalism and the fundamental skills you will need as a day-to-day solicitor at the firm. We were given guidance on drafting emails, pro bono matters and the firms key areas of development in the coming years.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Dentons culture is one which I have not experienced anywhere else. It is a fast paced environment yet the people remain the centre of the company. This allowed for the quality of output to remain high and the environment to be very positive.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
It was something I think I needed to affirm my desire in being a solicitor. Seeing what is demanded from the team on a daily basis and how they adapt to each situation was very appealing and a trait which I want to improve as my career progresses.

I would recommend reading about the firms top practice areas and the strategy they possess for the coming financial year. As times are changing it is fundamental that applicants understand the challenges the firm may face and their unique selling pints in overcoming those challenges.
