Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Worked with the portsmouth team to develop software used by a range of BAE Systems and Royal Navy customers. This software includes data analytics in MATLAB and other tools build in Linux with C++.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was trusted throughout the course of my placement. I had the responsibility to be the sole developed for a key piece of proof-of-concept software as well as becoming an expert in one of the teams' software projects.
I arranged multiple events, sorting travel and activities to do on the day and claiming costs back on the company card.
I also acted as Team Lead for another software project.

Everyone was a great support throughout my placement and would always be willing to answer any of my questions.
I was still trusted to complete the work and provided necessary training for software/programming languages if necessary.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Very welcoming and accepting. Everyone in the company I crossed paths with were great to work with and provided a great support during my placement. I appreciate being trusted with key tasks as any employee would rather than being singled out as a placement student.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I loved the whole placement and I plan to return as a Graduate. I have met many great people along the way and cannot wait to return to see what projects I will be working on next.
