Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Undertaking due diligence surveys for the acquisition or disposal or re-financing of assets, Development Monitoring on behalf of tenants and funders, Planned Maintenance Programmes and Reinstatement cost assessments.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, as the year progressed I was given the opportunity to be the main point of contact with property managers, organise and undertake inspections and assemble reports for clients.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have greatly increased my knowledge in Building pathology and construction technology throughout my year. I have improved my reporting and technical language/terminology through working with more experienced surveyors. My placement has also increased my confidence and organisation in my day to day life.

I felt that i had a close team that i could rely on for support throughout the year. I was in regular contact with my line manager and they were very open to provide support or answer any queries or provide technical knowledge.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Very friendly, and motivated. I felt that i could easily get on with everyone as well as understood that need to work hard and they all had a desire to hit targets set within the team.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I have found my time at Savills so far to be a highly enjoyable, and i have felt that the support and comradery within the team has been great. I have developed my knowledge of my profession immensely and have been provided with the opportunity to learn and increase my experience towards my APC.

Be outgoing and friendly as well as prepared to work hard. Dont be afraid of not knowing the answer, just make sure you then go and find it and read up about it. Show a willingness to learn.
