Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
We had information sessions on the working day / company culture and affinity groups, but predominantly coding activities with a mentor who was a current Amazon SDE. There was further information on how to apply for the 2024 internships at the end of the 2nd (final) day.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The range of different roles could perhaps have been explored in more depth, but given the time this was understandable.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
I valued the chance to be discussing the logic behind problems with other people which is not necessarily something that happens too often during the semesters at university. I also learnt about the use of geohashes which I personally found quite interesting. Pair programming was also relatively enjoyable.

I appreciated hearing the authentic opinions of current employees/interns - the company culture appears to be both challenging yet laid-back where appropriate.

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I got a decent group and mentor for the coding exercises (the bulk of the event), which made the overall experience quite enjoyable.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon
A point that was emphasised was to be your authentic self when applying. It was also highlighted that one should consider carefully which role to apply to and hone in on that role over applying for many different ones (although this is allowed). Typical things like using the STAR method and having a concise CV are also relevant.
