Job Description

Shape trust and confidence around business process and technology risks

Technology and business processes sit at the heart of most modern organisations. While opening opportunities, they also introduce risk. In our Technology Risk teams, you’ll shape the future with confidence – combining digital expertise, technology and controls insight to help clients transform. You’ll drive growth, manage risk and create impact, shaping industries through real-world technological solutions.

Core skills for success

  • Curiosity and motivation – Gaining a broad understanding of the business and IT landscape of some of our biggest clients, including their approach to cybersecurity, internal controls, data protection, resiliency, and software asset management.
  • Integrity and quality – Assessing complex projects to spot risks and make recommendations.
  • Analytical and systems thinking – Analysing data, communicating with clients and presenting your work.
  • Digital, data and AI fluency – Understanding the risks associated with emerging technologies, including cloud adoption, the use of Artificial Intelligence and Robotic Process Automation.

What you will be doing

  • Use data, technology and professional judgement to help clients safeguard their IT environments and meet contractual and legislative obligations.
  • Grow in your career to lead meetings, identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with EY teams across the globe.
  • Develop your skills through hands‑on experience, coaching and formal learning.

Please note: If you are successful in securing an offer you will be required to remain in Northern Ireland for the entire duration of the programme. The offer cannot be transferred to any other EY location in the UK or Ireland.

Key Information

  • You’ll need a minimum of Level 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths; and three A-levels/5 Highers (or equivalent).
  • You’ll also be studying for a Honours Degree (in any subject) that includes a one-year placement and you’re in your penultimate year of university.

While we welcome applications from candidates of all academic backgrounds, we are looking to recruit individuals who will succeed at EY in the role and future qualifications. We have completed several studies on academic attainment at A-level (or equivalents), candidate performance in the online assessments in the EY recruitment process, and how that predicts future performance at EY.

Throughout the recruitment process, we therefore assess your suitability for the EY role you have applied to by considering your scores in the online assessments and your academic attainment at A-level or equivalent. This approach is designed to ensure our joiners are successful in role and, where relevant, in the achievement of their professional qualifications. It is important to EY, and we have a duty of care which we take very seriously, to ensure our joiners are set up for long-term success.

Diversity and Inclusion

We’re passionate about giving candidates a fair and consistent recruitment process and are proud of our long-standing partnership with RARE who help us assess applications using contextual recruitment. We also firmly believe that every candidate should have the opportunity to demonstrate their potential in our selection process which is why we use our skills framework that focuses on your individual skills.

EY recognises that it has clear obligations towards all its people and the community at large to ensure that partners, our people, and job applicants are afforded equal opportunities to enter employment and progress within the organisation. As an employer committed to establishing an inclusive environment free from unlawful discrimination, EY promotes the fair treatment of staff members and job applicants regardless of their sex, gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, race, ethnic or national origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, age or pregnancy/maternity status.

Apply

Please see visa sponsorship details below for this programme, for location: Belfast.

The EY summer internship and industrial placement programmes are specifically designed as a pathway to our Graduate programme within the same business area and location. We’re unable to offer visa sponsorship for the Graduate programme aligned to this internship due to UK Home Office regulations. Therefore, we cannot accept applications for this role from those who would require EY sponsorship after university graduation.

We have a variety of other summer internships and industrial placements that lead to a Graduate position, complete with the support for visa sponsorship where needed. We encourage you to explore these opportunities and find the one that aligns with your career aspirations. You can find out which vacancies are able to support applications from candidates who require visa sponsorship by looking at the individual vacancy pages.
