Job Description

Launch your software engineering career with Tecknuovo!

Gain experience across front-end and back-end development, supported by expert guidance, training and a recognised apprenticeship.

As a Software Engineer Apprentice at Tecknuovo, you’ll start building your career in software engineering through a combination of structured learning, hands-on experience and support from experienced engineers.

You’ll become part of Tecknuovo’s growing Engineering practice, learning how modern digital products and services are designed, built, tested and continuously improved. You’ll develop experience across both front-end and back-end engineering, gradually taking on more responsibility as your technical skills and confidence grow.

This is an apprentice role, so we don’t expect you to arrive knowing everything. What matters is that you have a genuine interest in software engineering, enjoy solving problems and are motivated to learn. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers who will provide guidance, feedback and opportunities to put your learning into practice.

Alongside your day-to-day work, you’ll complete your apprenticeship programme and have dedicated time for formal learning and development. The aim is to give you the technical foundations, practical experience and professional skills to develop into a capable Software Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how to design, build and maintain software across both front-end and back-end applications
  • Contribute to real software development tasks
  • Develop your understanding of programming languages, frameworks and engineering tools
  • Write clear, maintainable code and learn how good engineering practices
  • Support the testing, debugging and improvement of applications, learning how to identify issues, understand their causes and develop appropriate solutions
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and wider delivery teams
  • Build an understanding of secure, accessible and reliable software development

Who we're looking for

  • You’re at the beginning of your career in technology and have a genuine interest in understanding how software works
  • You enjoy learning and are comfortable asking questions
  • You approach problems logically
  • You’ll be working with different people across Tecknuovo, so you communicate clearly, listen to others and contribute positively to a team
  • Most importantly, you’ll bring curiosity, commitment and a willingness to learn

Entry requirements

  • The learner must have completed a Level 3 Software Development Apprenticeship with QA or have an equivalent qualification with another training provider
  • OR an A-level in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) subject and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR a BTEC Diploma in IT and a successful completion of our aptitude test
  • OR 2 years’ experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our aptitude test

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
