  • Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

About the Role

You will provide first-line technical support and guidance to staff and students across the Trust’s schools, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues and contributing to the smooth operation of ICT systems. The role also supports the apprentice’s development through exposure to a wide range of ICT systems and structured mentoring.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day maintenance, problem solving and fault resolution of all IT-related equipment.
  • Install and update software as needed.
  • Undertake basic network patching/cabling tasks.
  • Perform Active Directory user, group and policy management tasks.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all ICT related equipment via the Trusts online asset management system.
  • Assist with the setup of IT and digital display equipment.
  • Provide basic tuition to staff and students on equipment use.
  • Assist users with the use of day-to-day software applications across a range of platforms.
  • Maintain stocks of spare parts and peripherals.
  • Update digital signage displays with content provided by school staff.
  • Keep a check on daily backup status and proactive monitoring alerting.

Required Skills

  • A keen interest in developing a career in ICT.
  • Experience and some technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • An understanding of PC maintenance & upgrades.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • To be able to work without supervision and prioritise own workload.

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Windows Server technologies.
  • A basic understanding of network concepts (e.g. IP addressing, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience of other non-Microsoft Operating Systems and software.
  • Backup technologies.
  • Web and mail filtering concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace tools.

Entry Requirements

  • 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
  • Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship in a similar subject

Non-standard entry with work experience

Relevant qualifications and/or work experience will be considered for applicants with potential to benefit from the programme.

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
