Job Description
Ecclefechan Surgery is looking for a friendly, organised, and enthusiastic apprentice to join our welcoming and supportive team.
As the first point of contact for patients, you'll play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient service both at reception and through telephone and email enquiries. You'll help patients access the services they need, manage appointments, and contribute to a positive experience for everyone who contacts the practice. You will also support the day-to-day administration of the surgery, maintaining accurate patient records, processing prescriptions and referrals, managing correspondence, and using a range of healthcare and digital systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys helping people, works well in a busy environment, and is keen to build a career in healthcare administration.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the first point of contact for patients and healthcare professionals via telephone, email, and face-to-face interactions
- Develop expertise in Vision, the clinical system used to manage patient records, appointments, prescriptions, and medical histories
- Support the accurate recording and maintenance of patient information
- Process and manage inbound clinical correspondence using DOCMAN
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues using Microsoft Teams and other digital communication tools
- Assist with clinical administration tasks, including referrals through the Electronic Referral System (ERS)
- Support workflow management and general administrative duties across the practice

Working hours: 30 hours per week
