You’ll get exposure to customer and supplier contracting, bid support, negotiations, and a wide variety of legal queries, while working with people across the business and externally. Please note that this is an in-house commercial legal placement for the full duration of the role and the role reports directly to the UK Head of Legal.

What you’ll do

  • Conducting legal research using AI legal platforms and other tools
  • Providing regulatory and compliance support to legal advisers and contract managers
  • Supporting with ad hoc legal and administrative requests, using AI where appropriate
  • Working alongside legal advisers to support the review, negotiation, and drafting of customer and supplier contracts, including confidentiality agreements, goods and services agreements, order forms, local services agreements, and statements of work
  • Managing the legal inbox, including responding to queries and allocating matters across the wider team
  • Mentoring work experience students
  • Attending relevant external keynotes, seminars, and webinars

What you’ll need

  • You’ll be a current law student (or equivalent), having completed or about to complete your second year of undergraduate study
  • A genuine interest in commercial law
  • A proactive approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn, self-motivation, and a helpful attitude
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team
  • A calm and professional approach

Experience you will gain

  • First-hand insight into working in a busy in-house legal environment
  • A stronger understanding of the IT industry and how legal teams support it
  • Experience of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
  • Exposure to working with both customers and suppliers
  • A broader understanding of different legal career paths
  • Insight into how different teams and departments work together across the business

Please note:This is an in-house commercial legal position only available for undergraduates looking to gain experience to support their legal studies. At the end of the placement the successful candidate will return to university to complete their degree.
