Job Description

Purpose of Job

The Facilities & Maintenance Engineering Apprentice will be capable of supporting MeiraGTx’s calibration, maintenance, spares and asset criticality strategy. This role contributes to the overall performance/reliability of MeiraGTx’s equipment/asset portfolio by ensuring value is maximised through timely execution of maintenance activities.

Assist with implementing the operational readiness and availability of assets within the MeiraGTx asset portfolio. Ensuring planned and unplanned maintenance is achieved to a high and auditable standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and calibration activities
  • Assisting with maintenance and fault troubleshooting/response to ensure equipment and utilities remain operational
  • Using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage tasks
  • Maintaining critical spare parts and engineering inventory
  • Supporting contractors on-site, including safety and permit compliance
  • Contributing to engineering projects
  • Working to high standards of safety, quality, and compliance

What you'll learn

  • Maintenance and optimisation of utilities, facilities, and equipment
  • Core engineering principles in maintenance, calibration, and asset management
  • Working within GMP and regulated environments
  • Exposure to quality systems such as deviations, CAPA, and change control
  • Continuous improvement within an engineering function

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Passion for engineering, problem-solving, and learning
  • Strong academic performance (or predicted results), ideally in STEM subjects
  • Motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Able to follow procedures and work safely in a regulated environment
  • Interested in working towards an engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, BEng)
  • Enjoys working as part of a team
