Job Description

Our Procurement Summer Internship

In the Procurement team, we are responsible for purchasing goods and services for the wider business. With major partners and industry leaders at the heart of our supplier portfolio our procurement teams offer you the opportunity to shape your career in a dynamic, high impact environment. We’re excited about the future – because we’re central to driving value, innovation and sustainability across the business and we’re committed to being more agile, strategic and collaborative than ever before.

Over your summer internship, you’ll gain hands-on experience in how we source, manage, and partner with suppliers to deliver value, drive innovation, and support the energy transition. You could be involved in anything from negotiating contracts and managing supplier performance, to driving sustainability initiatives, supporting digital transformations and delivering cost-saving projects. We will work with you to develop proficiency in project management, negotiation, contractual knowledge, commercial deals, communication and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

We’re passionate about developing future talent and can’t wait to share our expertise with you. You’ll be supported every step of the way—with access to buddies, mentors, and experienced line managers, plus a ready-made network of graduates and interns across the business.

At Centrica, we believe face-to-face collaboration is key to making the most of your internship. While we support flexible working across the business, our summer interns are based full-time, predominantly in our London/Berkshire office to maximise learning, connection, and development.

What we need from you:

We want you to count yourself in! We welcome people from all walks of life who bring fresh perspectives, live our values, and work in line with our core behaviours. If that sounds like you, here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Expecting a minimum 2:1 degree (2:2 if combined with a Masters)
  • If required, able to travel and stay away from home during your internship - flexibility is key to making the most of your experience!
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too. If you're full of energy, fired up about sustainability, and ready to craft not only a better tomorrow, but a better you, then come and find your purpose in a team where your voice matters, your growth is non-negotiable, and your ambitions are our priority.

Help us, help you. We would love for you to share any information about yourself throughout our recruitment process so that we can better understand you and help shape your journey.
